Cleveland Institute of Art Students Recreate History!
Late September, Fifth year Cleveland Institute of Art student Sarah Lohman and friends camped out in Industry Park at West 11th and University to honor the memory of the Civil War soldiers stationed in Camp Cleveland (see marker behind). Sarah reported:
“Everything went great! We had such a good time. We got a lot of curious looks,
but only two brave teenagers just came up and asked what was going on. We
talked, read essays, played music, ate food, and then fell asleep while
looking at the Cleveland skyline. It was a great success. It was hard to not feel like
we were walking among the ghosts of the past--and I feel like our presence
helped the community become more aware of what that spot represents.”
This event was a part of Sarah’s Bachelor or Fine Arts thesis project, and documentation from this and other pieces will be shown at the Institute in April.
